The Healthy Schools Collaborative supports educational excellence and the health and well being of children by supporting efforts by the district to integrate nutrition and physical education into the curriculum and the fabric of the schools.

The collaborative is a network of public and private individuals, including the district, the community, farmers, non-profit organizations, and various local, state and federal agencies. The collaborative led by VEP will work to provide financial support to the district through fundraising, and develop strategies to build support for healthy schools through outreach efforts.

In June, VEP and the Healthy Schools Collaborative sponsor SummerFest, a day-long celebration of our healthy community. The event is next scheduled for May 31, 2008. Look for a 5K run, sports challenges and lots of family-friendly activities.
